Nazanin Mehraein is a theater performer/director and multimedia artist born in Tehran, Iran, where she studied Performance arts and Puppetry.
She is now based in Vienna and studies Transdisciplinary Arts at University of Applied Arts for her Masters degree, while also working as an art director at 1001 suitcases, a company based in Seattle, USA.
Nazanin Mehraein´s work focuses on storytelling, many of her works include autobiographical stories.
As a kültür gemma!-fellow Nazanin Mehraein worked six month at Schuberttheater where she played the main role in the play MAY BE, directed by Simon Mausenburgen. For her main project she directed and performed the play “Ashimashi Sparrow”.The play is based on a philosophical, old and slightly grotesque Persian folk story, in which a sparrow is the main character who once found a golden coin on the floor and goes to different people to share it with them.
